		GEM inks are unique to the market. They provide customers with adhesion and color options not available from other ink jet fluid manufacturers. There are Gem inks that are directly compatible with products from other manufacturers. Gem inks are ONLY listed as directly compatible when we have determined compatibility through the following steps: The competitive ink has been analyzed for content. The competitive ink and the Gem ink have been mixed together outside the printer and have been found to be chemically compatible. The competitive ink can be set up in a printer and the Gem ink can be added to the ink supply without adverse affects on printer operation. The Gem ink is added without printer flushing or filter changes for this test. If the inks are found to be incompatible at any point, a flush and filter change will be recommended. In the case of unique Gem inks, the customer’s equipment should be thoroughly flushed out and all filters should be changed before introducing the new ink. Direct replacement make up/additives and cleaning solutions are formulated based on analysis of the competitive fluid they replace. They can be added into the printer without any flushing or filter changes.
